History of Dadasaheb Phalke Award
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest honour in the field of the Indian film industry. It is named after Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, Famously called Dadasaheb Phalke, who is considered the father of Indian cinema. He made India's first feature-length film, Raja Harishchandra, in 1913. The award is considered the highest honor in the Indian film industry and is given annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to the field.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was established by the Government of India in 1969 to recognize outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. The first recipient of the award was Devika Rani, a veteran actress and producer, who was honored for her contribution to Indian cinema.
Since then, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award has been awarded annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to Indian cinema. The award is given by the Government of India's Directorate of Film Festivals, which is part of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Over the years, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award has been bestowed upon some of the most distinguished personalities in Indian cinema, including B.N. Sircar, Prithviraj Kapoor, Satyajit Ray, Raj Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, Gulzar, Yash Chopra, and Amitabh Bachchan, among others.
The award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. The recipient of the award is selected by a committee of eminent personalities from the film industry and is presented the award at a special ceremony by the President of India.

At the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, Varun Dhawan received the Critics Best Actor award for his role in the film Bhediya. In the television category, the popular show Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, was honored with the Television Series of the Year award.

Some of the winners include "The Kashmir Files" for Best Film, R Balki for "Chup: Revenge of The Artist" as Best Director, and Ranbir Kapoor as Best Actor for his role in "Brahmastra: Part 1". Alia Bhatt was awarded Best Actress for her performance in "Gangubai Kathiawadi", while Rishab Shetty received the Most Promising Actor award for his role in "Kantara". Manish Paul was named Best Actor in a Supporting Role for "Jugjugg Jeeyo".
Rekha was honored with the Outstanding Contribution In The Film Industry award, and "Rudra: The Edge of Darkness" was recognized as the Best Web Series. Varun Dhawan received the Critics Best Actor award for "Bhediya", while "RRR" was named Film of The Year and "Anupamaa" was awarded Television Series of The Year. Anupam Kher was named Most Versatile Actor Of The Year for his role in "The Kashmir Files". Zain Imam was recognized as the Best Actor in a Television Series for "Fanaa- Ishq Mein Marjawaan", while Tejasswi Prakash received the Best Actress In A Television Series award for "Naagin".
The awards also recognized the musical talents of Sachet Tandon, who was named Best Male Singer for "Maiyya Mainu", and Neeti Mohan, who received the Best Female Singer award for "Meri Jaan". PS Vinod was recognized as the Best Cinematographer for "Vikram Vedha", and Hariharan was honored with the Outstanding Contribution In The Music Industry award.
